Internet Entrepreneur Mindset | Rewire Your Brain In 2011

Yesterday I talked about the proper way to set goals for the coming year. For the last topic of this year, I want to talk about something that goes right in hand with setting goals. In fact, I consider this topic to be even more important than goal setting because without really mastering this first, your goals may simply never get reached.

This week I saved this topic for last purposefully, simply because I want you to really grasp the power your thoughts have on your reality as an Internet Entrepreneur, as you bring in the New Year.

What can possible be more important, for any Internet Entrepreneur, than setting goals? – Your Internet Entrepreneur Mindset!

What Is The Internet Entrepreneur Mindset?

I think one of the first questions most people will have when reading this is, ‘what is the internet entrepreneur mindset?’ Quite frankly, that all depends! Everyone internet entrepreneur mindset will be different because naturally we will all have different goals of what we want to achieve as internet entrepreneurs. Some of us want to simply be able to cover living expenses while others will settle for nothing less than a 7-figure yearly income.

However, a common theme that every internet entrepreneur has when developing their individual mindset designed for their ultimate business goals, is the proclamation of Positive Affirmations.

Positive Affirmations are critically important for every Internet Entrepreneur who seriously has high ambitions of realizing his or her business goals.  Let’s start with understanding WHY positive affirmations are so important!

The Way The Human Brain Works

Jeffery Combs, producer of The Psychology Of Asking, tells us that if Internet Entrepreneur Success is what desire, you must first understand that today’s results you are experiencing in your business are a product of yesterdays thoughts and habits.

How is this so?

Your brain is a powerful interpreter of how you perceive the world around you, through your five senses. In reality your eyes do not see and your ears do not hear. Your eyes and ears are simply a way to collect information that is then transmitted to the brain which integrates stimuli it recognizes as important based on prior experiences, into our subconscious mind.

Our brain has the ability to recognize what information is important versus what is not based on experiences throughout the course of our lifetime. Interestingly enough, our brain will elect to choose that information which will lead to a familiar outcome. This is exactly why people don’t like ‘change’ very much!

Re-Wire Your Brain

If you did not get the results you wanted out of your business this year, the solution for 2011 is simple. You must re-wire your brain! By re-wiring your brain, you create a new set of physical neurological pathways in your brain tissue, creating a new reality for yourself and insight into the world around you. Your brain is like a computer! Until you can change your emotional and behavioral patterns that will allow you to create manifestations of the success you seek, you’re trying to run internet entrepreneur success software on an operating system that will simply not support it.

How To Re-Wire Your Brain

As children, we are very inquisitive. We ask tons of questions and our parents encourage it by eagerly responding. However, as we grow older we are conditioned to not ask questions, to do as we are told and to not take risks – all characteristic traits of the lifelong employee and this, evidently, is not congruent to the entrepreneurial way of life.

The ability to rewire your brain is determined by two factors:

  1. Repetition (Habits); and
  2. 2. Emotional Impact

This is exactly why you may remember HOW and with WHOM you celebrated last year’s, New Year’s Celebration, but you cannot remember what you had for lunch that same day. Significant memories carve deeper channels into the brain and into your subconscious especially when they are emotionally charged.  Your subconscious knows exactly how deep that memory is imprinted into your brain. However, your subconscious does not have the capability to determine whether events actually occurred of if they were imaged. This is exactly why re-wiring your brain can be done through consistent repetition of positive affirmations of who you are and the level of success you will have (or have) as an internet entrepreneur.

For example, in my primary business opportunity, reaching a certain level of leadership within the company earns you the keys to a brand new BMW 7-series. If one of your business goals is to reach that level of leadership within the company, you would create a series of positive affirmations that could go as follows.

  • I am an internet entrepreneur success story within my company
  • I have attained one of the highest leadership levels in my business opportunity
  • I am a great leader in my company and have helped others achieve success in their own personal businesses
  • Today, I have earned the keys to a brand new BMW

Notice that each affirmation is done in the present. Additionally each affirmation should be consistent with factual events leading up to the end result

As previously mentioned, the stronger the emotional impact of each affirmation, the deeper the channels carved into your brain and your subconscious. When using affirmations to rewire your brain, try to repeat them often and imagine how it would really feel like to receive a 7 series BMW. The deeper channels you carve into your brain and subconscious with your positive affirmations, the faster your subconscious will believe that you really are a great leader and that you have experienced great success that will earn you the keys to a BMW. Remember, your subconscious does not have the ability to distinguish real from imagined events.

Is Re-Wiring Your Brain Really Possible?

Most people will have a hard time really understanding the idea that you can completely re-wire your brain by simply using positive affirmations on a daily basis and really accomplish what you have set out your mind to believe is actually true.

Case Study:

NASA conducted an experiment years ago to determine psychological and physiological effects of Spacial Disorientation of astronauts in environments of low gravity. The experiment consisted of a group of astronaut candidates being outfitted with goggles that flipped everything in their field of vision 180 degrees resulting in the astronauts sight being turned upside down. The goggles were worn 24/7 even while they slept. At first this experiment caused extreme stress and anxiety, as was expected. However, 26 days into experiment one of the astronauts experienced his vision turning right-side up, flipping another 180 degrees, after which he was able to see everything normal again. By the 30th day, all astronauts had experienced the same phenomenon. In 26 to 30 days of receiving a stream of constant new input the astronaut’s brains created enough new neural connection to completely rewire their brain so that the visual and spacial perception now operated 180 degrees opposite from the way the brain was perceiving site.

This study led NASA to conclude that our brain requires about 30 days of consistent application of neural conditioning techniques to operate from a new neural orientation.”

Develop your internet entrepreneur mindset! Create Positive Affirmations for your business goals and meditate over them consistently.

This is a great post, the mind is our powerful tool. I will use positive affirmations every single day of my life :) Thanks.

Rafael – thanks for the comment man!

Definitely! Your thoughts and the words you speak have an extremely powerful impact on your subconscious mind and, subsequently, on your reality.

That is why it is my firm belief that positive daily affirmations are extremely important. There is no room for ambiguity in your subconscious mind. Your success as an internet entrepreneur depends on it!

Thanks again for your comment rafael! I hope to see you around more!

  3. Interesting post, Hector. You touch a lot of issues regarding the brain.

It definitely makes sense – As you get used to something and if you are connected emotionally to a piece of information, you are more likely to remember it than if you were to learn something once and never apply it to your life.

      Hi Christina!

Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Absolutely! The depth of an imprint in the brain has to do with emotion and repetition. The subconscious mind has no way to determine if your affirmations are real or just imagined. That is precisely why, daily positive affirmations are an excellent way to change what you perceive as reality.

Hector – I love the scientific backings in this post. It’s interesting to see what science has to say about our thoughts. That’s always been an interest of mine.

I’ve never practiced positive affirmations. Well, I have, but they weren’t pre-determined and scheduled. I’ll have to give that a shot.

May I ask…what’s your primary business opportunity offering up the 7 series!? Shot me an email on that one!

    Happy New Years to you!

    • Hector says:

      Hey JK!

Thanks for stopping by! Always great to see another young professional entrepreneur share his thoughts.

Absolutely! One of the things I have come to discover about business, sales, and marketing through my research is that there is quite a bit of psychology that goes into play.

Learning how the human mind thinks when it comes to business and what is perceived as being important can be very helpful when it comes to closing sales or developing products. It’s not an easy thing to do but I have found that those who have mastered the psychology of business are usually very successful entrepreneurs.

PS: Thanks fro your interest in my business opportunity. I’ll shoot you an email shortly to tell you more about it.

Awesome post Hector, Yeah, we have to re-wire our brain in order to set it back to motion. It’s a nice thing to do. I agree with your points bro. Thanks so much for sharing, Have fun :)

    • Hector says:

      Hey Sam!

Always glad to see you stop by my friend!

Sam, one of the many road blocks that entrepreneurs face – is themselves.

Getting out that little voice in your head tat tells you “What are you kidding yourself for! You’re not going to make it!” is extremely powerful because once that voice is out and once you have completely “burned the bridge behind you”, the only place to go is forward.

It’s hard to succeed at anything, especially business, when you’re not quite sure if you have what it takes or if their is uncertainty in your head.

Positive affirmations, followed by my other suggestions on how to apply emotion to those affirmations and changing your perception of what’s real, are the absolute best way to do away with any uncertainty as an internet entrepreneur.

Well for me, “rewiring” seems like a scary term. But reading the post, I understand what you meant.

For me repetition is key here as for the most part I rely on it to change some of my bad habits.

    Good stuff!

    • Hector says:

      Hi Melvin!

I can definitely see how rewiring your brain can seem like a scary term right off the bat! I am glad you now know i didn’t mean it in the literal term. :)

Repetition is definitely a way to rewire your brain. I am glad you are already putting this into practice!

I hope to see you around more!

You’re most certainly welcome! Positive affirmations on a daily basis are an excellent way to train our brains to accept the reality we wish to live in!

      Thanks for your comment!

  11. Wow Hector, 30 days! That is a great story to inspire persistence in our efforts. Who would have thought of doing that with 180 degree goggles! NASA obviously, but really! I guess something good comes from all that research money.

Now all I have to do is fit those goggles on my business vision and I’m all set.

      Hi Michael!

Thanks for stopping by and welcome to Internet Entrepreneur Connection.

Yeah when I first heard of this experiment and of the results it had on the very first astronaut after 27(which also occurred to all other astronauts by the 30th day) I was pretty WOW’ed!

I am sure thats not what they were trying to research but the fact that they were able to learn something new about the brain by using those 180 goggle is pretty amazing!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and share your thoughts!

  12. Yup. No doubt. Brain can be controlled and we should condition ourselves to do better, overcome bad results and stop bad habits, but in part.

Because we cannot really control our brain entirely, these cells and neural networks work on their own. And I’ve read that while we sleep the brain doesn’t. In fact, he organizes the information into our brain, on methods only he knows :)

You’re absolutely right and I absolutely know what you are referring to when you say that the brain “doesn’t sleep” when we do.
