Do Internet Entrepreneurs Have Any Real Assets?

The Information Age has given birth to a new breed of people willing separate themselves from the herd and challenge the status quo of regular 9-5 jobs; today those people are known as Internet Entrepreneurs. Affiliate and Network Marketing opportunities all over the world have facilitated this movement towards Internet Entrepreneurship by empowering ordinary people to become internet entrepreneurs and build global virtual businesses.

Internet Entrepreneurs Build Relationships

Although affiliate and network marketing opportunities are just one segment of all Internet Entrepreneurship ventures, they offer real income generating opportunities for those willing to embrace them.  To those unfamiliar with affiliate and network marketing, some key questions about this group of entrepreneurs can almost automatically arise. These are some of the questions I had prior to starting my own internet business venture.

  1. Do affiliate and network marketers own their own products?
  2. Do affiliate and network marketers own the product business?
  3. Do affiliate and network marketers have any real businesses assets?

The No. 1 Asset

Simply put, affiliate and network marketers DO NOT own the products that they promote via their internet business and they DO NOT own the business that created these products.

With that being said, affiliate and network marketing internet entrepreneurs have only one real asset, Their List!

Have you ever noticed that whenever you buy something through the internet store of a large retail business, such as Best Buy or Fry’s, at some point during your purchase you are always asked if you would like to be added to their company newsletter? This is because large retail organizations also understand the power of the list. Large retail organizations know that in order for someone to feel comfortable enough to buy online, the consumer has to know who you are, the consumer has to trust you, and the consumer has to like you.

If you haven’t already figured it out, people only buy from those they Know, Like and Trust. The same principle applies to internet entrepreneurs!

Relationships in Internet Business

Top Internet Entrepreneurs like Mike Dillard have long educated aspiring internet entrepreneurs about the importance of building relationships for internet business success. The reason for that is clear! If you are an affiliate or network marketer you have absolutely no assets, but your list.  At any point in time the product or service you are promoting may be pulled from the market or the business organization you’re partnered with may completely fold and go out of business. It happens all the time and if you truly believe that those are your business assets, you are setting yourself up for complete and utter failure.

Build your list. Build a relationship with that list.

Market to your list.

The only assets you can rely on are the relationships you have built with people in your list. It is only after the people on your list know who you are, like and trust you, that you can market useful products, services or business opportunities to them that will enhance their own lives and personal businesses. If done at any point prior to building a relationship, you’ll portray an image of self-interest and self-gain, destroying your credibility as a leader and any future opportunities to have that individual partner with you in a business venture.
